James Carter IV emerged as one of the key figures who pushed Mr Romney's private remarks at a Florida fundraiser into the public domain and to the centre of the presidential election. The 35-year-old does unpaid work as an opposition researcher, scouring the internet for any damaging evidence or ill-judged remarks that could be used against Republican politicians.
