I am from the South and it's has always been a guiding principle of my to check out grandma's remedies before going to the doctor. Often times, she has solutions for things that the doctor can't even diagnose the first time around.

Mario, I agree. I usually ask my mom for remedies because we're Laotian and I often use what she suggests or what my grandma says.
