It came out nice!
I am a really big fan of things torn up a little, raggedy or otherwise looking especially worn. Destroying denim is something I have been doing for years and I like to think I have gotten pretty darn good at it. The best denim shorts are made out of relatively heavy jeans, minimal spandex percentage (mine were 1%) and a size too big. I hate to name drop but Lucky Brand and Abercrombie have the perfect jeans to destroy or make into shorts. They are heavier than most, comfortable to all hell, last forever and will cost you no more than $6 at your local Goodwill! Holla! For this project you need a pair of jeans, scissors or rotary cutter, bleach, hydrogen peroxide, cotton balls and a washing machine. I added some embellishments at the end as well. Step 1: Cut the legs off your jeans. Caution on the side of too long though, I have ruined many a jeans by cutting off the legs only to find that I had turned them into some sort of ugly swim suit bottom rather than jean shorts.
